“Moonlight in Morocco”
2018 OV WVU Medicine Childrens gala
The gala was hosted in the Glessner Auditorium at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling, WV. It was a night of great food, music, and dancing. The evening bustle began at 5 pm when the event staff began lighting the candles and preparing for guests to arrive in addition to the warm-ups by the The Move Makers Band from Pittsburgh, PA.
Guests began arriving at 6 pm for the cocktail reception, sponsored by the Hartley Law Group, PLLC, and registration. This gave guests a chance to enjoy the beautiful decorations, mingle, and look through the many items donated for the live and silent auctions.
The dinner, sponsored by Southwest Energy, consisting of Sea Salt Encrusted Tenderloin of Beef, Sweet Onion & Pepper Demi Glace, Diced Sweet Potato Hash, Roasted Baby Zucchini & Peppers with Sweet Onion Reduction or Vegetable Strudel with Red Pepper Coulis & Roasted Zucchini & Peppers was served followed by a delicious dessert of Moroccan Orange Cake, with Orange Cream & Sugared Orange Garnish.
After dinner and dessert the live auction began. The live auction, sponsored by Bordas and Bordas, PLLC, was a very exciting experience to witness. Joe R. Pyles was the auctioneer and he had a very special helper, Thomas (see below).
Part of the evening went toward bringing awareness of Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome. WVU Medicine posted this video to their Facebook page about 7-year-old Thomas who was the evenings Miracle Story. Money raised during the Bid for Good will purchase a Tecotherm Neo Cooling Blanket that will be used on transports to help lessen the likelihood of neonatal brain injury due to oxygen deprivation.
Lastly, photography and video was by yours truly, Amy Sine Photography, LLC.
